Chakra Cleansing | Yin Sequence

In this practice you will be guided through your chakras which are energetic centres in your body. You may like to complete this practice by moving through all seven poses in one session or you can move intuitively only doing the poses you feel called to do. 

When working with your chakras you can feel them through physical sensations in the body or start to go a little deeper into your subtle energetic and spiritual bodies and start to notice any feelings, energy flow, emotions, thoughts and visions you experience while being in the poses. 

You are encouraged to trust any feelings that come though during your session, a lot of people will share with me what they felt, thought or saw during a chakra cleansing session and then ask me 'is that right?' Yes, your emotional and spiritual bodies will communicate with you through things that you feel, sense and see. Practicing trusting these messages in a yoga session like this one will make it easier to trust your intuitive niggles in other areas of your life. So, start to trust yourself here. 

Counterposes: Between each pose please be lead intuitively by your body as to whether a shape, movement or moment of rest would feel good to move the energy that has been released. Remind yourself throughout this practice that your body has the best wisdom for how it needs to move. So, take the time to listen for is guidance and move in a way that feels good.

BASE CHAKRA - BUTTERFLY FORWARD FOLD | 3-5 mins

Bring the soles of your feet together in front of you, be intuitive in your body and choose a distance that feels right for you. Let your knees drop out to the side. You can place blocks or pillows under your knees to offer your hips support. 

You may like to use a block or bolster in front of you so that you have something to rest your forehead on. 

Lean forward until you come into an easy folded position. 

Feel your glutes, hips and sit bones heavy beneath you. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your BASE charka at the bottom of your spine. 

Allow this energy to clear anything from your base that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.

SACRAL CHAKRA - DEER TWIST | 3-5 mins

Sit facing the side on your mat and bring one of your shins parallel to the long edge of your mat. Bend the other leg so that your toes are pointing behind you and your knee is sitting in the arch of you other foot. 

Place the bolster lengthways next to your hip. You are going to turn to face the bolster then lay yourself down so that your belly, chest and head are supported. 

If you have the range of movement in your neck you can turn your head so that you are looking away from your body. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your SACRAL charka below your belly button and above your hips.

Allow this energy to clear anything from your sacral that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.

Repeat pose on the other side.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA - SPHINX | 3-5 mins

Roll onto your tummy, lift your chest and bring your elbows under your shoulders, forearms on the floor parallel to each other and hands out in front of you. Your legs are out long behind you. You can place a block in front of you, so you have something to rest your forehead onto or keep your neck long and gaze towards the tops of your fingers. 

Feel the extension along the spine and a sense of grounding of the belly into the mat. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your SOLAR PLEXUS charka below your rib cage and above your belly button.

Allow this energy to clear anything from your solar plexus that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.

HEART CHAKRA - RECLINED FISH | 3-5 mins

Place a bolster lengthways along your mat or use two blocks (one for under your head and one between the shoulder blades). Lay down onto your back and make sure your chest is opened towards the sky. You can open your arms out to a T shape besides you to extend the opening all the way down to your fingertips. When you breath imagine your chest is opening in all four directions. It can help to take five breaths in a row. With the first breath feel your chest rise and fall, with the second breath feel the right rib cage open and then close, with the third breath feel the back of the shoulders open and close, with the fourth breath feel the left rib cage open and close and then with the fifth breath feel all four directions expand and then contract. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your HEART charka in the centre of your chest.

Allow this energy to clear anything from your heart that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.

THROAT CHAKRA - NECK MASSAGE | 2-4 mins

Laying on your back place a block underneath your neck. You can leave the block flat or hold it so that you have the corner of the block pressing into your neck to create a deeper release. Slowly move your neck from side to side to massage out any tension and sensation you feel. As you are working with the throat chakra which is our centre of expression it can be really helpful to sigh, cough, moan or vocalise to help and stuck energy move. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your THROAT charka in the centre of your neck.

Allow this energy to clear anything from your throat that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.

THIRD EYE CHAKRA - WIDE LEG CHILDS POSE | 3-5 mins

Sitting on your knees and feet, bring your big toes together and knees out to the width of the mat. Place a bolster or pillows in front of you so that when you bring your torso down towards the mat your belly, chest and head are supported. Let the full weight of your body be supported by the props underneath you. Try to have your forehead resting on something like your hands that are stacked or on the mat. You can gently rock your head from side to side to encourage stillness in the mind. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your THIRD EYE charka in the centre of your forehead.

CROWN CHAKRA - SAVASANA  | As long as you intuitively feel you need

Lay down onto your mat to receive your final healing. Make sure to make yourself feel as comfortable and supported as possible. You may like to place a bolster or pillow underneath your knees and a blanket over you to keep yourself warm. 

Imagine, sense and feel a stream of white light flowing into your CROWN charka at the top of your head.

Allow this energy to clear anything from your crown that is no longer yours to hold onto and bring with it the healing that you need.
